My name is Greca Meloni, and I am a PhD in Cultural Anthropology (2023, University of Vienna). From 2016 to 2022, I conducted ethnographic research on beekeeping in Sardinia. Currently, I focus on invasive plants in Europe from a multispecies perspective.
During my fieldwork, several beekeepers from Sardinia (and beyond) shared with me their experiences, knowledge, and perceptions of the natural world. This experience, along with the desire to "return the favor," led to the creation of this website, which aims to establish a virtual space where different forms of professional knowledge can freely interact.
"Fare Apicoltura" (Doing Beekeeping) intends to host contributions from beekeepers, entomologists, researchers, beekeeping technicians, as well as anthropologists, historians, journalists, and others, with the goal of promoting beekeeping culture and fostering the exchange and sharing of knowledge and diverse forms of expertise related to beekeeping practices.
A website to share experiences and knowledge about the interactions between humans and non-humans in beekeeping and beyond.
